The bayside historic hamlet of Onancock, where there are numerous restaurants, quaint shops, a colonial museum and art galleries, is minutes away. Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge and Assateague National Seashore are an hour's drive. A nearby winery is open for tastings or take the kayak wine tour from Onancock.
