A few kilometres away is the centre of Lourdes: a Christian centre known for its imposing grotto and church. Sometimes it feels like taking a step back in time, especially when walking through the narrow streets of the old centre. Outside the city you will find the Pyrenees massif, with fantastic hiking trails and impressive cols that are a must-see for keen cyclists (Pic du Midi). The border with Spain is nearby and a walk around Lac de Lourdes guarantees memorable holiday photos. The ski resort of Bagnères de Bigorre is definitely worth a visit in summer too, as is the impressive waterfall of Gavarnie
