Come stay in this restored historic private home built in 1885, located right on the water in Mathews, Va. Historic charm combined with modern comfort and water views from every room make this a perfect spot for a relaxing vacation to get away from it all.
Crab or fish right off the brand-new dock with a huge gathering area (390 sq ft) and a 10x10 floating dock for the whole family to enjoy the water. In the garage you'll find crab traps, fishing gear, and life jackets. Bring your boat and enjoy easy access to the Chesapeake, the creek is 3-4 'mlw at the dock so most boats can access it even at low tide.
For those interested in kayaking and canoeing, the house has 4 kayaks (for up to 5 people) and two paddle boards, with our floating dock allows for easy access. As well, Williams Wharf Landing is a quick 4.7 mile drive away, located on the East River with a public pier and water access for engineless watercraft.
Most of the main floor has 9 ft+ ceilings and large windows for plenty of sunlight and views of the river wrapping around two sides of the house. Enjoy dinner in the large formal dining room or in the air-conditioned sunroom for panoramic water views up close.
There are two master bedrooms, one on the main floor and one on the second. Both have excellent views of the water and come with oversized chairs and ottomans, perfect to cozy up with your favorite book or just lounge and enjoy the view of the water gently flowing by. The downstairs master has a newly remodeled bathroom of the quality that you'd expect to find in a high-end hotel.
Three of the four rooms have king beds with one bedroom being the "kid" room with two full beds and a twin bed. All of the beds have luxurious high thread count percale cotton sheets that you would expect to find in an upscale hotel. As well, each bed has plush down alternative pillows, soft pillow tops mattresses, and extra blankets.
Both master beds have remote controlled adjustable bed frames so you can adjust the head and foot height to your liking.
The house has a brand new tankless water heater, so you never have to worry about running out of hot water in the middle of a relaxing shower. Morris Creek Point has central air conditioning with 3 hvac units to keep the air crisp and cool even on the hottest days.
Fully equipped with high-speed internet, 55" 4K smart TV, two dining room tables and a breakfast table, an extensive assortment of dishes and serving trays/bowls, crab picking utensils, and all the kitchen equipment you could need. As well, you'll find various board games, lawn games, crabbing and fishing gear, cards, and an assortment of books for adults and children.
Above the garage there is a finished air-conditioned room with a Foosball and ping pong table to keep kids and adults alike entertained.
The home features original hand carved and crafted artwork from the local art gallery Put In Creek Carvings just minutes away in downtown Mathews. As well, there are additional pieces such as a museum quality blue crab by Pete Miller Water and Wildlife Studio, artwork by John Beard, and other fun decorative pieces.
Located near historic Yorktown and Williamsburg. You may also enjoy Beaverdam Park, Machicomoco State Park. Other entertainment in the area includes local museums, downtown Gloucester, beaches, fishing charters, Virginia Motor Speedway, and Compass Entertainment Complex in Irvington.
The entire house is accessible except for an owners closet off of the upstairs master bathroom. As well, there are two sheds that are locked for owner's storage. Owner is available by phone and can remotely help with access to smart devices, i.e. locks, wifi, tv, etc. if needed. Can be there in person if needed, but will require travel time.
