This modern and tastefully furnished holiday villa is situated in Calheta, halfway up the slope of "Estrela". It is a picturesque location between the sea and the mountains. From here, with the same time of travel you can reach a beach of magnificent yellow sand as you reach a unique green landscape cut across several paths of sparkling water. Guests can enjoy nature while also within a short distance having access to all desired amenities.
The two-storey holiday villa was born from the reconstruction, enlargement and union of two typical Madeiran houses from the year 1926. The new unit of the combined two houses has only recently (2014) been lovingly renovated. The restoration allows guests to live in a house that is more than 100 years old, but with all the comforts of today, including air conditioning and central heating, Wi-Fi, satellite TV and all the modern appliances you would need for a memorable self-catering holiday.
Now one building, the villa can accommodate up to seven persons in three bedrooms and has three bathrooms plus a separate guest toilet.
On the ground floor is an open plan living-/dining area, a fully equipped kitchen and the guest toilet. There's a romantic open fireplace, comfortable sofa, two armchairs, a dining table with chairs and a flatscreen TV in the living area. The modern kitchen, complete with breakfast bar, is equipped with a dishwasher, Ceran cooktop and stainless steel extractor hood, oven, microwave, fridge with freezer compartment, kettle, toaster and a coffee machine.
A wide wooden staircase leads up to the first floor where you find the three bedrooms, all with their own en-suite bathrooms, and a reading room. One of the bedrooms has a 160 x 200 cm double bed, the second a 140 x 200 cm double bed and the third bedroom is furnished with two 90 x 200 cm single beds (can be pushed together to make another double bed). Upon request, an extra bed can be provided for a child. The three ensuite bathrooms all have a generous walk-in shower, wash basin, bidet, hairdryer and a toilet.
The villa has two diferent WIFI networks: one for the inside of the house and another for the gardens, pool and barbecue area. WIFI is included in the rental fee.
From the spacious, private roof terrace you can admire the view across the blue sea. And downstairs the outdoor kitchen with a stone grill and a porch with a typical winepress of the region invites you to enjoy long outdoor holiday dinners. The 4m x 8m swimming pool is surrounded by sun loungers on two sides of a deck area, under sun exposure throughout all the day. And at night the pool can be illuminated. There even is a separate laundry room with a washing machine and a dryer.
Guests are welcome to help temselves to the herbs, strawberries and vegetables in the beautiful, green garden area. To the north of the house a zone of vineyard was recreated and to the south some fruit trees were planted. Guests also have an opportunity to place an order with the bread delivery van that passes daily by the front door.
The nearest centre, Estrela da Calheta, is 600m away, where you can find cafés, restaurants, a petrol station, ATM cashpoint, a bank, pharmacy and medical centre.
The resort of Calheta, with its man-made yellow beach, is 3Km away. In addition to a greater choice of cafés and restaurants, there isw a branded supermarket and the marina from where diving and sailing trips are available. Points of interest include the Casa das Mudas Museum and the old sugar cane mill. Levada walking is only 6.4 km away and a paragliding take-off point is 5.2 km away. The capital, Funchal, is an easy 35 minute drive away, and to reach the airport takes around 45 minutes.
