Nature and wildlife
With its unspoilt natural environmental and remarkable variety of wildlife, Kangaroo Island has been described by some as Australia's Galapagos Island. The Island and its marine waters are home to 18 species of terrestrial mammals, 18 reptile species, 6 frog species, 231 recorded fish species and 5 kinds of seagrass. At Koopalanda Dreaming the island's wildlife is always on show, but for a more up close and personal experience Kangaroo Island Wildlife Park is a quick 30 minute drive. For marine adventures, visitors can experience a Kangaroo island Ocean Safari. Kangaroo Island still retains much of its native flora, catalogued to include 891 native plant varieties. These include the unique and impressive Tates Grass Tree, delicate native orchids, melaleuca and a range of grevillea, some of which are extremely rare and endemic to the island. There are more than 200 different types of birds here, some gloriously coloured, including endangered and threatened species such as the Red Tailed Glassy Black Cockatoo, Hooded Plover and the Osprey. Ligurian bees were brought to Kangaroo Island in the early 1880’s and the island is now home to the purest remaining strain of Ligurian Bees in the world, enjoy their wild famous honey at Cliffords Honey Farm. Our King beds have 2000 TC Bamboo/mix linens with wool quilts. There is rain head, glide in showers with heated towel rails. In the kitchen, eight metres of ceasar stone benchtops house all the full size appliances, you could need. On the front verandah there is a covered BBQ with side burner, alongside an outdoor sink.
Kangaroo Island Dreaming wishes to provide a unique coastal experience in a luxurious manner. The views front and back are able to be enjoyed year-round with cooling in the summer and reverse cycle for heating in the cooler months. The luxurious feel continues inside with high quality linens, and appliances. Koopalanda Dreaming is perched above the jetty at Point Ellen, Vivonne Bay which is on the mid-south coast of Kangaroo Island (KI), allowing easy access to all the attractions that KI has to offer. Once back at the accommodation, views out the front over Vivonne Bay and jetty, with the local fishing fleet coming & going, coupled with the views out the back of native scrub, wildlife and the rugged Southern Ocean, make for the luxurious, relaxing holiday that guests so deserve.
Kangaroo Island Dreaming has been designed to cater for all access needs. The main bathroom has a walkin/rollin shower with a rain showerhead & a flexible showerhead, full accessible toilet with back rest and a freestanding bath. The powder room leading in to the bathroom has a hand basin suitable for ambulant & chair users. There is another toilet (seat height 46 cm). One bedroom has an ensuite with walkin/rollin shower with a rain showerhead & a flexible showerhead with a toilet (seat height 46 cm).
