Sorry, no "short stay" reservations that interfere with the Christmas and New Year's rental weekends. For 2023 we have placed a block for check in on 12/26 and 12/27 in order to give the cleaning crew time to turn the house. We can delete this block to accommodate a longer stay over Christmas or New Years, please message us. We have a 4 night minimum Christmas and New Years and 3 nights on Presidents' Day.
Slopeside was custom built for us in 2014. It sleeps 14 in 5 bedrooms (10 beds), with 4 ½ baths and over 3,000 sq. ft. of mountain style luxury. Nestled among the trees on one of the highest lots at Massanutten, Slopeside provides an amazing degree of privacy despite backing to the ski slopes (less than a 5 minute (1/4 mile) walk). Includes a paved driveway (2017) and two private off street parking spots. 5-6 cars total.
You enter the home through the “Mountain Room” which provides a comfortable place to sit and remove your jackets, ski boots and to store outdoor gear and where there is a second full size refrigerator. From the Mountain Room, you will enter into the Great Room with its 20’ high wooden cathedral ceiling, exposed beams and hand-scraped hickory floor. The seating area has a large stone fireplace with a gas fireplace. Settle into one of the leather couches and load a DVD to watch your favorite movie on the 46” HDTV. We have hi-speed Wi-Fi Roku TV's in "Guest Mode" which allows you to activate your streaming services and then they are automatically deleted on your check out date. The Roku TV's also come with various free apps. Games, books and movies are also available.
The dining area features a custom built 12’ long farmhouse table made from century-old reclaimed white oak. The table seats 14 comfortably, enabling everyone to enjoy meals together. The spacious kitchen features an open-beamed wood ceiling, rustic hickory cabinets and granite countertops with a tile backsplash. Well lit and fully equipped, the kitchen has ample cookware and utensils to support a large family. The appliances include a smooth top range, side by side refrigerator, Keurig machine, blender and other small appliances. Two of the five bedrooms, “Aspen” and “Vail”, are located on the main level, both with beamed wooden ceilings and furnished with Queen and Twin wrought iron beds. A full bath (connecting to the Vail bedroom) and a powder room are located on this level.
Above the kitchen is the loft, which provides a perfect spot to relax in the comfortable recliner and read a favorite book from the well-stocked bookcase. The “Alta” room is the romantic cathedral ceiling master suite tucked away on this upper level. Alta contains a Queen sized four poster bed, a wrought iron twin day bed, ceiling fan, 40” HDTV, DVD player and another recliner. Alta’s en-suite bath has a claw foot Victorian tub, a separate shower, a granite double sink vanity and oil rubbed bronze fixtures.
The lower level contains a large wood ceiling recreation room with a two couches. air hockey and foosball tables, 70” HDTV, X-box 360, and Wii. Along the wall is a granite wet bar with a beverage fridge and a Keurig machine. Two bedrooms and two baths (one full, one 3/4) are also located on this level. The “Stowe” bedroom has twin beds while the “Whistler” bedroom has a wrought iron Queen bed, a wrought iron twin bed and its own private full bath. A laundry room with a full-size washer and dryer complete this level.
Enjoy the privacy provided by the extensive open space on both sides and the rear of the home as the exterior has multiple decks with a large gas grill, picnic table, porch swing and seating. In 2019 we added a gas outdoor fireplace on the lowest level deck. No smoking or pets allowed anywhere on the property. Family Rentals only with the primary renter being at least 30 years old. No groups. No parties, receptions, meetings or similar events. Late Check-Out is negotiable. Linens and towels are provided. A basic 'starter package' of soap, detergent and paper products is provided.

Rental Procedures:
We rent to families/family groups, no youth groups, fraternities etc. The Principal Renter must be age 30 or over, no smoking, absolutely no pets. We try to be flexible with early check in and late check outs but it depends upon the rental schedule and our cleaners' workload (also, our cleaners do not work on Sundays, so we generally can't accommodate Sunday check-ins). We utilize the E-Rental Lock system. Prior to check in, a specific code will be e-mailed to you that will provide access to the home for specific dates and times. Please send a rental inquiry that includes a phone number and a short description of your party. This information is required as there are numerous scammers using VRBO and we need to confirm that your inquiry is legitimate. We will respond promptly to all serious inquiries and we welcome your questions about the home and/or Massanutten.
