Summary: I have mixed feelings about our stay at Joao's place. We were a bit disappointed to find the state of the place; we emailed the landlord but he did not respond until Vrbo contacted him. Positive: - location: the view over the ocean is spectacular! - silence: it is a quiet area, only residential. aside from a couple of dogs once in a while, there is no outside noise - sleep quality: the (hard) mattresses worked a charm and we slept really well - good fun with the table tennis in the common area - (did not use) you can sun yourself in the garden or on the terrace, and BBQ Negative: - extra "flatmates": with the sub-tropical humid weather, there's a lot of plants and life around. Inside, right from the first day, we found a cockroach (alive and upside down). When the rain poured, it was an invasion of millipedes. And for the 2 last nights, we saw a mouse (coming from behind the sink) that we weren't able to lure out, as well as another upside down cockroach - the whole property feels like it is abandoned: mold on the walls (bedroom, bathroom); various objects are broken (railings, handles); the common room is dusty - the towels and some pillow cases were stained with burnt and blood marks Neutral: - internet: there is a ZTE modem in the common living room, but no signal in the appartment - bare minimum: soap, washing up liquid, sponge, toilet paper, plates, cutlery - stagnant water ponds outside: frogs and mosquitoes, keep your windows closed at night.
