Hi I'm Alicia and welcome to my courtyard which I designed and constructed by myself over the course of two years. I'm an architect who is interested in finding values and cultures in the countryside. During the pandemic, I relocated myself to Chinese countryside and started to document a lot of abandoned traditional houses, as many locals demolish the hundreds-year-old houses to have new concrete houses. This is part of my research project, but also where I return to after working for a while in the cities. Inside the house, you will find a good selection of books, a cozy living space with Tibetan fireplace, a comfortable bathroom with floor heating and japanese TOTO toilet, a kitchen with all the cooking tools you need.... I opened all the spaces in the main house so each space is connected to one another, but could be divided with curtains.
You are 2 minutes to the morning fresh market where the local Bai minority have their morning(7-11am) and afternoon markets (3--6pm), 3 minutes from the lake Erhai, 5 minutes to Haishe park with stunning views of the lake, and 8 minutes ride to Xizhou town.
As it's my own house, please donnot expect everything to be like hotel services. But I am more than happy to get to know you personally as a friends. And the yard would have everything a home has.
